Well, I’m looking for American made in the U.S.A

Got this to put inbetween my tractor’s battery and other electronics; with my antique tractor the constant battery connection can be bad for the other sensitive electronics, and this will save me from having to manually disconnect the lead every time I’m done using it. Overall it looks like this switch will work fine. The rotation on the knob doesn’t work as smoothly as I’d like. It only swings one way and then back the other way, so there’s really not a way to get confused, but it does take some good force to get it to rotate. The post is hollow. Not a big deal, but just keep that in mind if you are expecting it to be solid. Still should have plenty of metal surface for a good current connection. Overall the plastic is lightweight but thick enough that it should last. Time will tell but I’m pleased enough with it to still give it 5 stars, as it is relatively affordable. If it cost more money I’d probably knock it down a star for value, but as it’s a good deal you get what you pay for.

This switch does it’s job, and does it well. Much easier than taking the wire loose. We’re using it to disconnect the batteries for a solar power project. The switch attaches easily to the battery post and is heavy enough to tighten for a good contact without worry about breaking. It turns on/off fine, maybe not the lexus of switches but it’s marked red/green on/off and has a solid feel when you do so. At this price point it’s a great deal for what you get and we’re happy with it.

    Great

I have several vehicles that don’t get driven very often since I work from home. This saves me from having to trickle charge them.

  6. Air Cooled

I ordered this to provide a means for a quick disconnect in my classic car – in case of an electrical short on a 59-year-old car. The problem for me is the battery is kind of “tucked away”, so trying to remove the factory battery cable in an emergency situation is not possible.
Well – that presented the same problem for me with this switch. Since there is no built-in bolt retention designed into the clamp end – I literally cannot get 2 wrenches’ back into a tight space to tighten the clamp! If this did have a designed-in anti-rotation blocker for a square head bolt; (as do most other battery clamp ends) this would have been perfect. If I tried to move my battery for easier access – the cable would not reach. Ugh.
So, I tried the best I could to get this attached to my battery, and I thought I got it tight enough, but because it takes a fair amount of force just to rotate this switch knob; this whole switch would spin around my terminal post – UGH!
This switch may work well on a fully exposed battery, but not for my classic car application.

  7. Air Cooled

Does not fit US battery post. The post is too small for my battery to clamp on to.

  8. Gober

Nicely designed open/closed switch. Switch seems well built.

Great for stopping parasitic current draw and as a theft deterrent.
Note: Be sure to read and follow the enclosed instruction sheet. When you install the switch it should be in the Off (Red) position. In this position the switch will be in the “open” circuit position.
Only after the switch is installed, all connections tight, clearances verified, should the switch be turned to the On (Green) “closed” circuit position.

***** When the switch is in the Off (Red) position, the battery is totally isolated and there should be zero parasitic current drain. For use in situations where your battery is in a boat, car, etc. for long periods of time without the system running and charging the battery.
If you’re having to buy a new battery every year, you probably need this switch.

I tested this switch in my old 2002 Ford Expedition 5.8L. Works great!
Easily a 4-Star. But, I’m giving it a 5-star rating as it works exactly as advertised.
