Purchased to replace the original OEM starter that completely died on a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited. The Jeep has 175K mi. The mechanic had no problems installing the new one. Now turn the key and it starts up very quickly and powerfully. I don’t remember it starting this well but so glad it does now. Next year it will be 20 yrs old so it’s time for parts to be replaced. I still love this Jeep and plan on keeping it much longer.

EXACT MATCH, FIT DIRECT BOLT ON FOR 1990 4.2
i thought that my timing was off due to hard hot starts, turns out it was a bad starter, now its fires right up. as long as it doesnt die when im in a deep mud hole, im happy.

Extremely frustrated. Amazon fit said this item fit my vehicle. The three nut/bolt connectors are not the same shape as my original starter motor and does not fit the electrical connector(see picture). Now I am stranded without a vehicle for another five days or so until another item from Amazon ships. And I can’t get a refund until the replacement gets here to get my vehicle running in order to return. My vehicle is a 1994 jeep cherokee 4.0

This is a brand new starter I thought I needed but it didn’t come with a solenoid so I can’t install it without one trying to return it is a nightmare

50 bucks and some elbow grease got my jeep back on the road. Installed it, turned the key and it started instantly.
It’s a VERY simple DIY swap if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty. Just keep the following in mind.
1: Choose life; Disconnect your battery.
2) Make sure you don’t mix up the polarities on the cable or you might blow up something when you reconnect your battery.
3) Avoid removing one of the transmission bolts by mistake instead of the retainer bolt for the starter.
