I needed a new fuel pump for my RV’s generator. While I’m at it, might as well install a new fuel filter too, right?
No problem, Amazon has a kit with everything you need to do this job, priced right too.
If any of you have done this job, you know that the fuel pump and filter are not easy to get to or to remove and replace as this assembly is somewhat buried and other components need to be removed first.
After getting everything removed and cleaned up, I installed the new parts and reassemble everything. I primed the system, and the generator fired right up! Yeah baby!
My wife is on the other side of the RV, and she asks what is that gas smell. Oh no!!!
I check the generator and its leaking gas badly from the fuel filter!!! I shut the genset off and investigate.
After taking everything apart AGAIN I discovered that the fuel filter is defective. The filter was not sealed at the crimp. If you look at the filter’s pic, you see the crimp, that’s where its leaking from. Junk!!!
The fuel pump works but for how long? Is the pump just as junky as the filter? I don’t know, it’s working now and doesn’t leak. I guess I’ll find out at some point.
I contacted Amazon about this defective part. They wanted to issue a refund and have me send the kit back. But the pump works, and I still have to have it. After a bit of back-and-forth with the rep, I was refunded half of the kit price and I used that to buy the OEM fuel filter that Amazon is selling.
All good? Good enough, I guess.

RV generator was shutting off after running approximately an hour. Replaced fuel pump with this and works great . Ran for three days no problems.

I’ve been repairing Onan generators for years. I’m pump failure even with new Onan factory pumps. It’s because there is a lot of heat in the generator box. I’ve been installing the pumps on the frame back by the tank. No more problems.

On time, fits, great service kit. Cummings said replace fuel pump at 450hrs and that is exactly when the old pump died.
