RainX lasts about 2 weeks if there’s no rain. Less if it has to work. Trick w/RainX is you have to keep applying it over and over and over, even put it in the washer fluid. When it’s applied and recent like the last week or so, RainX works ok for about 1 hour, then washes off and makes your wipers stutter across then windshield. RainX also works a very low speeds which is nice.
Aquapel on the other hand will last a year <<– that's right, about a year if it's put on right. And it really only kicks in when going above ~50mph. Then it REALLY works well – much better than RainX at high speeds. I haven't had my wipers on in months at high(er) speeds. Around town at low speeds you'll still need your wipers as this is not what Aquapel is made for evidently. However, it stays on and is effective for quite a while, and it's routine to drive 8-10 hours without wipers.
It’s just a much better product than RainX, but is chemically similar. However it’s much more robust, and we use it for all 3 of our Mercedes, and our truck. It adds a darkening affect to the glass which remarkably cuts sun glare. It looks sort of like you’ve had the windshield tinted. They claim it blocks UV, and I’d believe it.

Got a new car? Used car? Put this on it. Clean the car, then really clean the windshield. Then, clean it again. It’s worth taking the time to make sure it’s clean. I had a rock chip turn into a crack, got a new windshield and for 2 months I suffered without any kind of water repellent. Put this on and all is right again. It’s been on for several months and still working great. I hit about 35-40mph and I don’t need wipers. If you get wiper chatter or skipping, clean the wipers. They probably have a build up of something on there. Mine chattered at first, I cleaned them and it got better. After a couple months of the Aquapel being on there, they don’t chatter any more. I’m slowly getting everyone in my family using this. Once they try it, they are sold. They’ve tried RainX and complain about this or that. Not with Aqualpel, it works and lasts and does a great job.
I’ve seen some promotional videos for other products that claim to do the same or better and the videos look very promising. But the products aren’t for sale. So, until something better comes along, this will be used on all my cars. Front, rear and sides. Protip: if you have a house window that gets a lot of rain, use this on it. Helps keep it clean and you can see out better while it’s raining.

I really love this product, I bought it in bulk, and have been using it for the past 2 years. I applied it the first time to just my front windshield, and with a little that I had left over, I ended up applying it to just half of my rear windshield to see if there was really any difference. The front windshield when covered with this stuff is astonishing, you can drive in total downpour and I found that it is almost better not to use my windshield wipers when going around 55 or 60mph, this causes the water droplets to slide right off and it is like you are driving in another dimension. I looked in my rearview mirror, and saw that the side that I applied the aquapel to also was spotless, no water on it, while the side where I didn’t apply it I couldn’t see anything out of. I waited until I saw a noticeable drop in the amount of water that it repels, and then reapplied, it was about a year, although I think it was still better than what my windshield was like prior to ever using the product. I ended up using 2 of these applicators and doing the front, back windshields, and also the side windows. I did the front first, and used what was left over for one side of the car, and then did the back and used what was left over for the other side. It is a bit tedious to apply, you need to spread it evenly, and then wipe it off with a nonresidue leaving paper towel that you can get at any store, the blue ones. It probably is something I am doing wrong, but I basically just wax each window after that application for a good 5-10 minutes making sure there are no streaks or cloudy spots, but the end results are just amazing. Now that winter is upon us, I am noticing it is also pretty good in decreasing the amount of ice that builds up on my windows, so overall, this is a product I will rely on for the rest of my life. Simply amazing.

I have used AquaPel for a few years now, usually apply it once every 7-10 months or so. IMO, it works far better than RainX in that it lasts longer and is more effective. But like RainX, it requires some elbow grease to buff off after application, though I have found some ways to reduce the effort….I usually use one to cover the windshield and one window, another to cover the other windows and the rear of my SUV. I use one, then wipe off the liquid with a set of paper towels till I get a light haze, don’t worry about the haze, then after a few minutes, go back with fresh paper towels and buff off the haze – that seems to work better than trying to clear up the haze on windows on the first pass.
When it is raining or pouring, it is amazing how clear your windshield and windows are, allowing you to make much faster headway than the others. It works better as you get above 35-45 mph but even at low speeds, water just rolls down.
