This is definitely an impressive little power supply … it’s a shame that it only lasted eight months. I was using it to maintain a battery in a project vehicle. I was able to start the vehicle a few times during the eight months till one day the vehicle wouldn’t start. Attached is a short video of the problem. I tested it on other batteries with the same results. Hey, I got what I paid for. I wish I could recommend another, but unless you find one with a good warranty, most will fail (sigh).

This is an amazing lightweight and reliable trickle charger! This charger is not only easy to use, but it is also incredibly efficient at maintaining a car battery. I got this item for my mother who does not drive often and I typically have to recharge her car batteries whenever I visit. This avoids the problem entirely and it is lightweight enough for her to carry around and use. One of the standout features of this charger is its fully-automatic design. Once it’s connected, it takes care of everything else, perfect for my aging mother.

Overall, I like this charger. This charger does not have a ON/OFF switch. First you connect the clamps to the battery then plug the charger cord into the AC wall socket. That starts the charger. The labeling on the charger says it’s for 12 volt lead acid batteries so it’s limited in what it can charge.
The charger will not begin the charging stage if the automatic charging mode detects less than 1 Volt in the battery. In this case, you must use a manual charger (not supplied) for five or 10 minutes to get the voltage up high enough for the charger to start charging. So don’t throw away that old manual charger, you may need it. The charger has a fan and mine started as soon as I plugged in the charger to the wall socket. This charger puts out 10 amps which shortens the time to charge.
One nice feature of this charger is a display with messages moving across it (see video). Some of the display messages are:

One message moving across the charger display was: “Charging 51%”. I think the charger was saying that my battery was at 51% capacity. If so, the 51% makes no sense to me. I had just driven to town earlier and the battery voltage, before the charger was attached, was 12.03 volts. Not a deal breaker.

This is a really nice looking charger. I was happy with it at first. Last time I hooked it up to top off a battery, something popped internally and smoke rolled out of it. It’s advertised to have a one year warranty which would be great if they supplied an address….phone#….or some sort of contact information! 4 months old and blew up the 5th time it was used.

Interesting thing about electric vehicles, they can’t jump a car battery! My son found this out when he needed to jump his van. So we realized we need another method to charge a gas vehicle’s battery.
This 10Amp charger can charge a regular 12-volt battery. It works great and has some added features that help protect your battery from being overcharged.
It also features a large LCD display that keeps you updated on the status of the charge.

I have a very old car (’97 Toyota anyone?) and like most old car owners, the batteries die about 2-3 times a year due to a number of reasons. So it seems, I am always having to go to the auto parts store to test the battery. No longer! My initial impression was I am very suprised how small this unit is. It is perfect for keeping in the car, I think, even in the trunk of my Toyota. The materials are a bit on the “inexpensive” end, although the casing is aluminum, and the clamps (while copper) are a bit on the thinner side. The clamp cord is a bit short, so in my car, the charger had to rest on the top of the car fender to charge. Also, the outlet cord is pretty short actually so either charge near the outlet or you have to use an extension, which the instructions say is not recommended. When charging the unit gets a little hot, especially since it says charging a 50% flat battery can take 3 hours, but there is a fan on the interior. One nice thing is the status lights, which did work correctly when I charged my lawn tractor battery. It did work charging the battery. So in summary, I think this is a good unit for occasional or emergency use, small enough to keep on hand or in the car. But if you’re looking for to do this often, or perhaps have more than one vehicle, you maight want to go for something more robust.
