I needed something to keep my generator’s start battery topped off (a good idea so that your generator actually easily turns on in an emergency). This charger so far has not failed me.

This is a decent trickle charger for the price. Sometimes you don’t need a one hundred dollar smart charger just to maintain a battery in your outdoor power equipment. I have used this on four different batteries so far to top them off and after checking them with a meter, it appears this charger is doing its job. For the price you could pick up a couple of these Koopool maintainers and just leave them on different pieces of equipment. My only minor grip is I wish the leads were a bit longer.

The description on amazon says that this charger is for lead acid AND lifePO4 batteries. The manual says that this is only for lead acid batteries and doesn’t mention lifePO4 at all. You CAN use most simple lead acid battery chargers on lifePO4 batteries, but they don’t charge fully and some can be damaged, so it is best not to use an uncertified charger for lifePO4. The manual also says NOTHING about the desulfation mode (or any other mode) mentioned on amazon so I can’t verify it even does it. The description claims a lot that the manual doesn’t address. Who to believe? What I can see is that it does do simple battery maintaining (ie trickle charge) on lead acid 12v or 6v batteries. If you need a cheap no frills trickle charger, this may be a good fit for you. If you want a comprehensive maintainer that is multimode, you might want to keep looking. I would not assume this one does that without documentation from the OEM. Mechanically it is a light duty plastic case that I would treat kindly. The battery cables and clamps are on par with a 1A charger. I strongly suggest to the seller that the manual and the amazon description need to be brought into agreement so that buyers can make an informed choice.

This will be used to keep the starter battery on a backup generator ready to go. It sucks when it has been sitting for nearly a year and then at the worst time you have to start yanking the cord!

While unplugging from an outlet by grasping the charger on each side, the case broke and the front and back separated. Looking through the opening, it is apparent the plastic posts that accept the case screws are too weak. I recommend you avoid this charger!

This KOOPOOL 1.25A Smart Car Battery Charger claims to do many things and work with all types of batteries but there’s nothing in the manual or controls on the charger to indicate it can. Actually, the manual clearly states the charger is for lead-acid batteries (Wet, GEL, MF and EFB) and there is no mention of LiFePO4 as claimed in the product listing. The manual also appears to contradict itself saying it will charge at 1000mA in one place and 1.25A in another. There are also contradictions regarding minimum battery voltage and no mention in the manual of a “force mode” for dead batteries. There is a button for selecting 12V or 6V but other than that, it appears to be a simple trickle charger that indicates it’s charging with a flashing green light and the battery is fully charged with a steady green light. Like many chargers, the manual warns that you many need to add distilled water to a battery connected to this charger for a long time.
In my opinion, the best part of the charger is the battery clamps. The plastic shells fully cover the metal clamps and help to prevent shorts. Otherwise, it appears to be a dumb, cheap trickle charger.

I got this to charge my 6V security alarm Lead-Acid battery. It takes a while but does work as expected. The reason why this charger is needed is because the 6V is drained below 4V which other charger will not charged. I like the ability to give the user controlled over the charging function. The only issue is the low charging current (I’m not even get above 500mA) I’ll test this on a 12V later to see if it can do more than 1A. The title said “Desulfator for Li-ion?” I’m pretty sure there is no sulfer in Lithium-Ion battery; I would only use this on Lead-Acid battery!!

I have an older car starter battery, 6 years, and it’s time to retire it but first, I wanted to test out this trickle charger on it. When I pulled the battery, it was still cranking the engine over, slower, but did it. It is a motorcraft, original ford battery, and has a little window to indicate the health of the battery. Red is dead, green is good. Well, when I started this test, fresh out of the car, the window was red, after 24 hours on this little trickle charger, happy to say, the window is green! I have plans for this battery yet, before I recycle it, I have a medium duty utility tractor that has a very old tired battery and this other battery should fit and bring a little life back to starting that tractor.

I would have given this 5-star review, as it works well and has a couple of nice features. However, the very first time I used it, the housing fell apart and I didn’t handle it roughly in any way. At first glance, I thought that it had simply been assembled with screws that were too short, but on closer inspection I can see that the plastic nubs that the screws go into which hold the two halves of the housing together had simply crumbled and broken off. Easily fixed with a few drops of super glue, but that shouldn’t have been needed on something that was brand new.
