Many Audi models come with no dipstick and just a plug. All you have to do is remove the plug insert this new dipstick into where the plug was and you can now measure your oil level the correct way and not rely on the computer system of the car to tell you how much oil is in the engine. Gives peace of mind completely. I used this on a 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T which isn’t listed as a vehicle in the description, but the engines are all the same for this time frame of vehicles and just used in different models. I verified this on a 2009 A4 2.0T which is listed as compatible and it worked the exact same for both engines. I can now have the peace of mind knowing how much oil is in the engine on my A4 and Q5. I am completely confident if you own a 2.0T in the listed years, this will work properly for you.

Used a 2011 B8 wagon. Measures within a 1/8 of a quart. Completely needed to do oil changes safely.

Seems to fit fine

I am sure I’m not the only one who thinks it’s absurd to sell a car without an oil dipstick. But, ok, I am forced to admit: It didn’t actually cause a problem in the first ~100,000mi of ownership… if you’re not DIY-ing your oil changes, and you’re not burning oil, and your electronic level monitoring system is working, there might actually not be a reason to worry about it.
But, my loyal ol’ A4 hit the transition from “pay someone else to do full (bloated, overpriced) services” to “DIY the oil change” … and the electronic level gauge is terrrrrrrible for that. If you’ve DIYed your own, you’re familiar with the frustration; if not, be prepared for it to take a while, and a short drive, and still more time, and the proper alignment of the stars and moon, to give you a reading… not real convenient (or trust-enhancing) if you just want to make sure you added enough new oil to be safe, but didn’t overfill. Maybe it’s unnecessary with the (fantastic) careful extraction and replacement method, but old habits die hard, you know?
Off to Amazon to find a replacement, and this one was here a few days later.
It’s great. Other options exist, but this one is particularly easy to read. It’s cheap. Just get it.
You will, however, want to double check its calibration on your own … in ~my~ case, when the electronic gauge read ~ 1/5 down from the tip-top, the dipstick showed almost exactly in the middle of the “good” range. So, it works, but it doesn’t seem to match up exactly with the factory expectations. I took that as “good enough,” but you may want to calibrate it more carefully… if I bother getting around to filling up precisely, I’ll check it against the dipstick and post a pic, but “smack-dab in the middle of the range” at least seems safe enough.
That said, it is not designed to be left installed (cutting off the top handle-loop might make it work, but…) nor would I really want to: Truth be told, the one I received didn’t seal particularly well to the access tube. Not an issue to use as needed with the engine off… but not something I would trust to install and forget about for 5,000-10,000miles, you know?
Great and, really, necessary, to have around for a quick DIY oil change… if that’s what you’re looking for, this will do the trick. Not a permanent install to check every time you get gas, say, if you’re burning more oil than normal *and* your factory electronic gauge is untrustworthy: If that’s the case, maybe look elsewhere.
Good luck! And happy car-maintaining!
