I have a 2006 Honda Civic and started getting a “Check Fuel Cap” light constantly. I read some reviews and did some research about the problem and found on video about turning the rubber gasket on the fuel cap over (so the side which was against the cap is now against the fuel filler pipe). This worked for them, but didn’t work for me. It was simple enough to try, so I did. I thought about purchasing a new gas cap, but thought it might be better to take it into the dealer to verify there weren’t any problems with the evap system. I called the dealer to set up an appointment they told me it would be $150 to diagnose the problem and suggested I might want to try replacing the fuel cap. since the car was 12 years old, I figured the car was worth a new fuel cap. And if it didn’t work, well, there was probably something more serious going on that it would be worth taking it to the dealer. To make a long story short, the new fuel cap solved the problem for me. It did take a day or two before the system re-calibrated, so just be aware that it may take a day or two for the message to go away.
I would recommend that rather than trying to replace the fuel cap AND new restraining strap, to pry the old restraining strap off the old fuel cap (and likewise take the restraining strap off the new fuel cap), then simply put the existing (old) restraining strap on the new cap. I took the ring/restraining strap off the old fuel cap first (just in case I broke something, I would have the new cap and strap). I took this off by prying the ring with a couple small flat blade screwdrivers and worked it off the bottom of the fuel cap This was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. And I found that trying to put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap in the reverse way was also difficult. I eventually put the ring/strap on the new fuel cap over the “TOP” of the new fuel cap and this was much easier. Your mileage may vary.

i bought gate and moto rod after market gas cap none of them worked I noticed the gasket seal was not siting properly on the gad tank i advise always buy Oem gas cap dealer asked me 78$ then i searched the same part no only different Honda logo on the package

Fit like a glove. Just harder to get the tether into the little block that the old one was strapped to.
Probably would have been smarter for me to reuse the old tether and just put the old ring around the new gas cap.

Way to expensive for a fuel cap, dont buy from Honda! Go out and buy a non OEM, way cheaper.
