These are easy to install. I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota and have gotten pretty good at installing them since I have to replace them often. The main issue with the manufacturer is that they use a piece of delrin for the cable attachment block. Over time, not that much time, it becomes weakened. I suspect it gets weak because they use a resistance limit rather than a limit switch. My suggestion to the manufacturer is the install a binding clamp around the delrin cable block or just use an aluminum block. Although I also suspect making a better product would decrease profit margins thereby negating improvements.

I purchased a knockoff on ebay for a lot less. It broke in the first week of use. Get the Dorman, it’s well worth the couple of extra dollars. It is well made and has the exact right length of cable to make a flawless installation.

THIS ITEM IS THE 8TH OR 9TH DORMAN WINDOW REGULATOR I HAVE PUT IN THE SAME VEHICLE. THEY INSTALL EASILY AND WORK WELL UPON INSTALATION~ THEN….THEY BREAK….EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS BROKEN ON EITHER OF THE TWO ENDS OF THE CABLE. I HAVE REPLACED EVERY DOOR AT LEAST TWICE WITH DORMAN REGULATORS TRYING TO AVOID LOW QUALITY….WHAT GIVES???? GUESS I SHOULD TRY CHEAPER, CANT BE ANY WORSE OF AN ISSUE!!!!

Part was set up for the rear driver side window instead of the rear passenger window. In good shape, but had to be reassembled to fit correct side.

The item was exactly what I needed and it was a perfect fit for my vehicle. I didn’t attempt to install it though because even this was a task I’m sure I would have messed up. I had my uncle replace it for me, who was a mechanic several years ago. He still referred to the diagram that was included with the item, so that was definitely nice to have. My window works perfect now. No complaints about the product or the speed of the window going up or down, nothing. Perfect product for my 2002 Dodge Dakota, rear driver’s side window.

Bought this to replace broken OEM window regulator in June 2023. It broke yesterday. So it lasted less than 2 years. Now I need another one. 🙁

This was the third (Rear Driver Side this time) of the four original window regulators to fail in my 2000 Dodge Durango. I had previously replaced the Driver Side Front and Passenger Side Rear each with Dorman Power Window Regulator with Motor assemblies over five years ago. I was happy with the prior two purchases so decided to stick with something tried and true. I am happy to report that I am just as happy with this most recent – Dorman 741-598 – purchase. The fit – using the provided mounting / adapter bracket and bolts / nuts – was perfect. As a reminder, only the bolts / nuts for the mounting plate / motor are included – you need to save the two screws that hold the window carrier, and four screws for the regulator from your old unit. Installation was easy after doing a quick refresher of the procedure thanks to a search on YouTube.

This is the third Dorman regulator I’ve installed in this truck within 3 years, and the second in the same door. This truck is hardly ever driven, and the windows are rarely operated. The Dorman name used to be trustworthy, but I suspect it’s been bought-out by a Chinese manufacturer. One way or the other, these things are just not durable. And it’s nothing against Dorman specifically, the design itself is clearly Engineered-to-Fail; there was NOTHING WRONG with the old, tried-and-true scissor-type window regulators. The engineer who designed these cable-and-pulley window regulators seriously needs to be drawn-and-quartered!
So if you want to save yourself the cost of paying to have your fallen window fixed, this is probably your best option. They’re usually not too difficult to replace yourself (depending on your vehicle, of course), if you’re patient and willing to learn how to properly remove- and reinstall your door panel.
But don’t expect the new part to last forever. Like so many things in this fallen world, they’re just not designed to.

Great YouTube video shows how to install. Have gone thru three previous regulator repairs at a dealership to the tune of $400 each time. Just a few months after popping for a fourth repair for $400, my rear window again dropped, and I knew yet another $400 was preparing to flee my wallet. I decided if this piece of crap item is going to keep breaking all the time, I better figure out how to fix it myself. Wish I would have 4 times ago. The repair was super simple, aided in part by the YouTube video. The part arrived earlier than expected, was the right item, and took less than thirty minutes to install. The only bad thing I can say about the assembly, is that the cheap plastic or nylon cable guides are used on this assembly as it is on the dealer installed units. I live in Arizona, and anyone who lives here will tell you how the day in and day out heat of over 100 degrees for 4-5months affects plastic. It gets brittle, cracks, breaks, deteriorates, and in my opinion should not be used in this type of an assembly. Not unremarkably, 4 of the 5 units I have replaced, are on the doors of my truck exposed most of the time to a west exposure where the heat is most intense, and concentrated. So, I don’t hold out much hope the assembly will last any longer than any previous (it’s always the plastic guides that break, nothing else) but at least at this price and ease of replacement, I can live with what I think is a faulty design more easily. So, yes this is a good purchase and I would recommend it to anyone needing a cost effective repair. HOWEVER if you can find a replacement using metal guides, I would snap that up in no time rather than this unit.
