Tired of dealing with the old glug, glug, glug while you pour gas from a gasoline container?
This is your solution. These spouts and fittings fix all the things that are wrong with U.S. gas containers. They are a snap to install, work well and best of all don’t leak.
Using these parts, I modified four containers is just under an hour. This is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon in the last ten years.
You need not read any further; unless, you’re planning to buy these.

Hints and Suggestions
1. These spouts come in a longer (11.8″) and shorter versions (8.2″). Trust me, buy the bigger spouts. You won’t regret it.
2. Included is a 5/16″ (.3125) drill bit to drill the vent hole in the container. However, I wanted a tighter fit. So, I used a 19/64″ bit and encountered no problems. (Some customers have reported that the vent fitting is too loose.) After I finished the modification, I filled the container with gas, tipped it on its side for 30 minutes and it did not leak a single drop of gasoline.
3. Before you drill the container, use a scratch awl or a nail to put a small divot in the plastic. That will keep the drill bit from wandering as you drill.
4. After you finish, look inside the gas can and remove any plastic pieces that fell into the container during the drilling process. If there are pieces inside you can remove them with compressed air. I suggest you do that before you install the air vent fitting. You can also pour a small amount of gasoline into the container and swish it around to remove any debris.
CAUTION: Be sure and dispose of the used gasoline in appropriate manner (burn pile for weeds, et cetera).
5. Use a rubber mallet to pound in the air vent fittings. A metal hammer will work but be careful because if you miss your mark, you might crack the plastic.
6. The spouts can be stretched out or collapsed for storage.
7. The caps, washers and air vents you use will be determined by which type of gasoline container you have. Thankfully, this company has included everything you’ll need for the most common types of containers.
Interestingly enough. these containers still have a flat area on them that was used to install the air vents before the government mandated manufacturers develop a different system. They are hard to see in the pictures, but the flat spots are there. That’s where I installed the air vents.

These cost a bit more but the quality was better than expected. I immediately replaced three older spouts. They even included a metal drill of proper size. I have about a dozen plastic gasoline containers filled with expensive non ethanol. Let’s see how these spouts perform over time. I may give them 5-stars.

I like the different threads to be able to choose the right one. the bit i felt would have been a tad too big so i used a slightly smaller one and forced the air cap in. nozzle itself felt pretty sturdy i like the length and flexibility, definitely made it easier to put into car/ lawnmower. threaded cap is great for storage.

I have used a few of these so far and it’s better than using the original spouts that require three hands to use. I hope the gas won’t affect the plastic spout’s quality. I will update if it does.

Good kit of 3 spouts for the money. Spout is adjustable from 6 out to 12 inches. Course and fine thread caps. Course thread fits my Mid west 5 gal plastice can. No more leaks!
