I realized when I looked under the dash that the previous owner of my used 2006 Chevy Silverado had fixed this problem before. The wiring harness had been replaced. Apparently this resistor and the wires feeding it have a tendency to overheat and quit working.
Reviews indicated that this particular item was not especially reliable, so I ordered two. They are not prohibitively expensive at around $20. I put a spare in the glovebox, changed the resistor under the dash, and Whee!!! The AC blower was running again! Ahhhhh. The forced air felt good. I got roughly three weeks of intermittent use out of the first replacement part before it stopped working. The blower motor wouldn’t operate on any setting.
So I threw in the spare resistor and Voila! Blower back to full strength! I don’t really want to make a habit out of this, especially in winter, when I need defrosting in cold weather to see out the windshield. So I am ordering a different brand and crossing my fingers. I realize that my particular model year of truck components themselves tax this wimpy style of resistor quite heavily, so GM is largely to blame, but I’d like to find a replacement part that will last longer than 20 days!

Fixed the AC problem on my 20 year old truck. The old part came out disintegrated and although the new part looked a bit different than the old one, all the reading I did and a couple of YouTube videos assumed me that it’s the same functionality regardless of different format. Perfect fit and perfect hole alignment for the screws holding it in position. AC works like a charm now. Very cost effective fix if you read up on what causes the problem and spend an evening researching and watching YouTube.

Works well but the mount is not exactly the same as the 2006 Chevy Silverado. It’s ok with a MacGyver move and works well anyway. If you’re fussy about it, make sure you buy one that looks exactly the same as your replacement part

Product worked but had to use a bracket to modify the mounting holes. Did not fit my 2005 Silverado.

The lower two fan settings in my 2001 Chevy Silverado weren’t working and after doing some online checking it appeared the blower motor resistor was the likely problem. The price was good although there were a couple of less expensive options available. I went with Dorman because I have bought other products from them that have worked for me. Installation was simple and my fan now works on all five settings.

First let me say this product is great. It usually runs for around $40 at local auto parts stores and I bought mine on here used/like new for $10.So, the lack of instructions is what stinks about this product.So when u go to install it and need to unplug the Ac fan plug, do not attempt to remove the round black cover on the fan. Instead get someone with really tiny fingers or get a screwdriver and try to pinch the clamp that hold the fan plug on the motor. (The plug is inside if the fan cover.) If you decide to remove the two bolts that hold the fan cover on, plan in spending an hour or more just trying to get the one small bolt to thread back into the plastic because the floor if the vehicle is too close the bolt and if you don’t get the bolt all thr way tight again you ar going to lose fan air pressure coming out your vents and start blowing air into the floorboard. Also, there is no wiring diagram for the wired that are most definitely colored on your vehicle to connect to these black and white wires that are in the plug you just bought on Amazon. I had no idea what wires connected to what and just said screw it and connected them from left to right. It worked fine on all fan speeds and the harness no longer got boiling hot like the old one that I cut off of the truck. I will be buying these again in the future because on GM they go bad quite often and your ac fan starts turning off.

I needed this for my 01 tahoe lt. It worked very well for a year then went out on me. But there was other problems with the hvac that I was having that played the part on why it failed im in the process to fix it all. And it’ll be buying another new one. Worth every penny!!.

Part does not work as described. Amazon says it fits my truck it does not. The screw pattern is completely wrong. After hooking up the harness to at least test it, i was not surprised to find that it did nothing after turning my fan speed from off to 1 then 2 then 3, 4, and last 5 and it does nothing. Gonna cost me at least 6 bucks to send this back which isnt worth my time so I’m gonna have to bite this one as a loss of money. My truck is a 2003 gmc sierra 4×4 4.8L regular cab 1500. So if you have a similar truck dont waist your time but more important your hard earned money. UPDATE! I’m dumb some time. Heres the deal. The screw holes on the resister are completely wrong so you have to drill them into a proper spot for correct resister positioning. Here is where i failed. THE BLOWN FUSE! When the old resister went out it blew a fuse.Check the 10 amp HVAC 1 and 30 amp HTR A/C fuses on interior fuse box. Also check the 40 amp BLWR fuse and 10 amp HVAC/ECAS fuses under the hood. After i found the 30 amp blown and replaced it the new resister worked fine. And about the new harness wiring being black and white and your old harness color coded. If you notice your old one on the connecter there is a seven letter code for each wire. Just connect the colored wires to the new harness using the female end of your old one as a diagram.
