I have a 1967 Ford truck that can be quite a drain on the battery at times, especially during the colder months. I purchased this before last winter, and never once had an issue with the battery being too low or too cold, despite some pretty frigid temps. I set this on a shelf just in front of and above my truck, and leave the lead to the charger hanging. I then wired the battery end to my battery and channeled it so the plug end can be pulled through the grill. It’s nearly invisible when it’s not in use, but is very quick and easy to plug up. I’ve gotten used to just plugging up the truck every time I’m done with it, and this little puppy brings it up to full charge fairly quickly!
Highly recommended, especially if you have an older car that either doesn’t get driven much or is a heavy drain on the battery.

Update 01/02/11:
Unfortunately, I sold my ’67 truck back in the late summer of 2010. However, this little battery tender was still going strong, so I immediately hooked it up to my 4-wheeler. It has been doing a great job keeping the battery on it charged up through some especially cold weather we’ve had. So after @3years of use, I still give it 5-stars. Awesome product!
Update 11/19/12: I noticed something really smelling in my garage, and spent quite a while trying to find it. It was a horrible “ozone” like smell, but clearly was the smell of burning electronics. When I got to my Battery Tender, I noticed the light was no longer on and it smelled really bad, so I immediately unplugged it. I’m not quite sure what happened, but am a little concerned about this. That said, I will consider replacing it as I still believe it’s a good product.
Update 02/19/13: As these units carry a 10-year limited warranty (if you have your receipt), I decided to send it in. The cost of mailing it was around $9 for standard post, and $11 for Priority Mail. The warranty replacement charge is $12.95 (why not just $13?). So in total, it will cost me just under $25. That is, assuming they replace it, which I certainly hope they will! I will post follow-up later.
Update 03/20/13: It took approximately 2 weeks, but Deltran DID replace my charger under warranty. The thing is, the replacement charger – which appears to be brand new, and not refurbished – did not come with ANY paperwork. No “we’re sorry for your inconvenience” letter, no receipt, no packing slip… nothing. So my warranty on the replacement will only be as good as the remainder of what I had left on my original 10 years (approx 4 years). The inconvenience of the return was frustrating, and I’d have liked at least an acknowledgement of that from Deltran, but it “is what it is”. Hopefully this new one holds up at least as long as the first.

So far working great. Using on a pickup I use infrequently. It was getting difficult to start before using this device. Truck hasn’t given me an ounce of trouble starting since I started using the battery tender.

I have two of these now. One for each bike I have and they work exactly like I wanted them to. No hassle and keeping the batteries topped off. Can’t go wrong here.
Yikes! –
This is an excellent device for people that do not drive frequently and their vehicles are parked for long periods of time, especially in very cold climates. I have my battery tender plugged in my garage with the quick disconnect attached to the battery posts which simplifies hooking it back up when returning home. I love this device and feel it is completely safe to leave plugged in. Apparently, I heard that trickle chargers eventually will drain the life of your battery, but the trickle charger will not. Hope this helps.

This Battery Tender does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I got the plus because some of the smaller models are now made in China. This one is still made in the USA. My bike sat all winter in a Canadian garage (Ice Cold Beers – No fridge required) with the battery still in. I was fearful that I would need a new battery. Tried starting this spring and of course it was dead. Hooked up the battery tender in the evening and the next morning she fired up on the first try! Surprisingly it actually started faster than usual. Great product!!!

I bought this one from AMAZON.AE. However the charger is not proper for use in UAE because of the difference of working voltage. This charger works only on ~110 volts. However in UAE, the voltage is about ~220V. The charger i bought was damaged when being plugged into the outlet.
Don the nerd engineer –
I rarely write reviews, but in this case I felt compelled to due to my exceptionally good experience with this product and company.
My wife left the dome light on in our suburban one night so the next morning the battery was very dead, reading 4.7 Volts and the temperature was below freezing. My old craftsman battery charger decided to die that morning so I went looking for a new one on Amazon. It quickly became apparent that there are many brands available and many had poor reviews – mostly the ones that had too many features for their price. For example, if a charger was “fully automatic” and also was rated for multiple battery voltages (i.e. 3V, 6V, 12V, etc.) then there were often complaints about not being able to detect the correct battery voltage. This would have been the case with my battery since it is a 12V normal car battery but that morning it was reading 4.7V so an “automatic” charger would have decided that it was a 6V battery and would not have charged it properly.
The Battery Tender’s by Deltran had very good reviews so I went to their website http://www.batterytender.com and found a wealth of information – way more than you would ever want to know – about batteries and chargers. Being a nerd engineer, I found this information fascinating and valuable. A 12V lead acid battery needs a very specific charging profile that supplies the right current at the right voltage at all stages during the charging cycle. So I chose the Battery Tender 1.25 Amp Plus model and had it delivered overnight. I chose this model because it had very good reviews, and it only does one thing – charges 12V lead acid batteries period, no extra features.
Upon arrival the next day, I hooked it up and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. The indicator lights show only 4 modes of operation – not charging, charging stage-1, stage-2, and stage-3. Mine went through those stages over a 36 hour period resulting in a fully restored battery the next day. Total Success!!
The next day I decided to try it out on the deep-cycle battery that runs the hydraulic pump on my dump trailer which was also reading about 5V not having been used for at least a year. I let it charge for 2 days but the indicator lights were reading stage-1 charging and I was expecting it should have changed to stage-2 or 3 over that time. So thinking something was wrong I disconnected and wrote an email to Deltran service asking what went wrong. In a couple days I actually got a response telling me that since it was a deep-cycle type battery it can take much longer to charge, so keep it charging for at least 72 hours. So I did, and it worked! Success Again.
Finally I remembered my generator had a 12V lead-acid battery and it was reading 5V having not been used for a year. Again it went through the charging stages as advertised and is now fully charged.
Now all my lead acid batteries are in great shape and I know a lot more about how to maintain them. Happy ending. I fully recommend this product and company.

Fácil de instalar, mi motocicleta ya contaba con la conexión asi que me tomo 10 segundos conectarlo y solo se conecta a la luz y listo, después de 1 mes conectada encendió a la primera.
