I got stranded when the shifter on my 2000 Saturn SL became loose and wouldn’t shift. I looked on YouTube for a video on how to repair a loose shifter. The video showed me how to fix the issue and also included a link to buy this part. I wanted to fix this right away so I started looking at parts stores instead. No one knew what I was talking about. The Chevy dealership said the part didn’t exist by itself and I would have to by the whole shifter assembly for $300 plus labor. I am not a mechanic just a person that likes to try and fix things myself. This fix took me about 30 mins. And cost all together about 5% of what the dealer would have charged just for the part. I have had the part on my car now for over a month and it works better than it was new.

VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got it installed since I was concerned about the one from Napa…( Napa uses a soft aluminum ring to stay on and it had already failed once in less than a year)
Back to this one: nice rigid well made part. full lip to hold secure. Shifter is stiff, but in a good way. You know it is responding to your gear request,,, I wish I knew about these years ago. I even have one more which I may never use since this seems so well made!

this is the issue with the shift cable i change a whole cable years earlier when these were not availible from the dealer this is a cheaper and easier way to fix the prob

With no sort of inner lip to hold the bushing on the ball joint, the slightest pressure pops it right off. I guess it could work ok if I never needed first or second. It took so little pressure to snap out on that I didn’t even need channel locks, my hand was more than enough. Garbage part in my opinion, at least for an 02 sc2. Waste of time and money. Although it would have cost more, should have just bought a new set of cables in the first place. Would have saved a ton of aggravation.. POS

When my bushing gave out I managed to get back home and I had time to do some research. I saw the replacement bushing common in the aftermarket and it looked like it wouldn’t work very well, reading the reviews confirmed this, so I didn’t even try it. I saw this item mentioned in a youtube video and it looked simple and easy to install. This was about half the price that any auto parts store wanted for the other style bushing. Installation was very easy. I was a little concerned at first that it might slip back off the ball stud because there was no obvious seat for the ball when I pressed them together. I immediately noticed that the shifter was very stiff, but after a couple weeks it was only slightly tighter than the old one. I expect that this bushing will outlast the rest of the car. I’m very pleased with this.

Have had it installed for 6+ months, 5k miles, does the job. Took a while to break in. It was very stiff during winter until cabin warmed up. I had used a “temporary” Toyota wiper bushing for over a year so I was used to very sloppy shifting. Then the whole end came off the cable so I bought the replacement end on ebay (can’t get on Amazon) and ordered this to use with it. Shifting is TIGHT now, or at least way tighter than I had before. It fit so snugly that I can’t imagine it failing before the car dies altogether. (250k miles on car now)
