Over the years I have installed too many lights and other items to cars with relays like these. None of them have been waterproof. Even though they live under the hood they still suffer over time. Plus when installing the relays you have to make sure to place it in a spot where it will see minimal water. Not with these. They can be installed right behind the grill close to the lights if needed. They even have snap in brackets so you can use an existing screw or install one to mount them.

BACKGROUND:
I’ve been installing some off-road lights on my Jeep lately and Vine suggested this for possible review, so I decided to compare it to the other relays that they’ve suggested for review.
INITIAL OBSERVATIONS:
Whether the relays are truly “waterproof” as the ad claims, I am not 100% certain. I would like to see an IP rating on them, but they are definitely better than the others that I’ve reviewed lately. These definitely appear to be spashproof and dustproof and possibly even able to withstand short submersions, but for something to be truly “waterproof”, it needs to be able to operate completely submerged for an extended period of time. And even then, you need a depth rating. These look to be acceptable for the occassional water crossing when offroading though.
COMPLAINTS / ISSUES:
None at this time, but I will revisit this review in the future if any issues develop.
IMPRESSIONS:
I could not open up the relay to examine the interior structure to see if it looked to be acceptable for the intended amperage. What I could do though was measure the amperage required to activate the relay and it was xxxx mA..
Poower Supply (LiFePo4 battery pack): 13.335 V
Current draw to activate relay: 163 mA
CONCLUSION:
I would have to say that this appears to be worth a 4-star (i.e. “above average”) rating. I would have no qualms whatsoever about using these on my Jeep without any additional protection, although I will probably add some silicone grease to it for a bit of added protection.
STAR RATING SCALE:
1 — Poor product; Waste of money at ANY price; Blatant lies in the original listing.
2 — Below average product; Something about it is a bit lacking; It could be conflicted specifications or errors in the original listing or that it was arrived with damage that was unlikely to have occurred during shipping and should have been caught in either the manufacturer’s or seller’s quality control.
3 — Average product; Meets expectations, perfectly serviceable, but does not do anything that sets it apart from similar products; Does not have some features that makes me say, “Wow, that’s a neat feature”.
4 — Above average product; Something about it sets it a bit above similar products on the market.
5 — Excellent product (or perhaps customer service); There is NO room for improvement whatsoever; NOTHING is perfect, so this rating *should* be EXTREMELY difficult to achieve.

So much easier to have the harness already attached so that you don’t have to crimp and prep a bunch of wiring, it’s already done! Heck yeah! Love it. I used these in my race car instead of a fuse block so that I could run accessory different way but keep in mind you still need a fuse block. These are not replacements fo Ethan, rather an alternative way to run a few circuits. Great purchase.

These relays work as they should. We have a multi package of them, and every single one of them worked as intended. Great way to save money works good.

These relays and super heavy duty and absolutely water proof. They are perfect for controlling high current accessories for cars and boats like bilge pumps or hydraulic pumps. The socket design makes it easy to service or replace a relay if it fails. They are tight going into their sockets, but that’s expected given the beefy weather seal doing it’s job.

I had to get these because they are marketed as waterproof. I had never seen a standalone relay that was actually waterproof. I drive a Jeep, sometimes through deep water crossings and I hate getting my electronics wet. In the past I have purchased waterproof boxes containing six to eight relays and they have been shown to be somewhat waterproof.
These standalone relays are really waterproof! Where the 5 (pre-installed) wires enter the bottom of the relay receptacle there is a large silicone plug with the wires poking through it. The relay itself has a lip around the base which presses down over another silicone gasket which has 3 ribs to stop leakage.
The only thing that can improve upon these relays is to wipe a thin layer of silicone di-electric grease onto the silicone surfaces.
Yes, these really are waterproof!

The relays appear to be very well potted. The O ring around the base is substantial and seems very waterproof. Overall, I’m very pleased with this.
My only caveat is that I haven’t done any high current or longevity testing. I don’t know if they meet their current rating. They did seem to reliably switch with a control voltage down below 9v, so that’s good.

These relays do exactly what they say. Switching works, and support the rated power without issue. The waterproof seal on these is what I needed them for, and that looks to sufficiently keep water out. The silicone seal looks to keep the water out of the internals. I have not dunk tested them, but i did get one wet and check it out, dry inside. These should be great for auto or boat use.
