I rather use OEM or WIX when possible. I have tried FRAM oil filters and they are very poor I have cut apart different grades after using the oil filters from low grade after use and its just cheap card board inside to there top grade I cut apart and the one that suppose to add to your oil that turn into a solid globe inside that could hurt your engine oil low it did not dissolve like they claimed. So as far as car air filters I am just turned off on there quality of oil filter rather buy other well know brands.

Some younger mechanics are harsh to older auto parts firms. I’ve been wrenching 40+ years. Which simply means I’ve seen and done more, nothing else. Having said that. All product lines have lemons. I don’t care what it is. I’ve used Fram for over 50 years. In all those years, they’re product have always done be good. Never an issue, not once.
