Perfect drop-in fit for the OEM one and not only fixed the dangerous transmission issue but also fixed the cruise-control problems I had been having with my GMC K2500. GM, if you are listening; really dumb design!
And as with all aftermarket parts, this sensor is far superior to the original GMC factory part.

The part fixed the problem I had .Also slot cheaper than local parts place.

This sensor screwed in fine, and solved my spedometer and shifting problem, but the connector wasn’t deep enough for the plug to engage all the way, so the locking clips were not clipping on. Measured depths, and there is a 0.050″ difference in the depths of the OEM vs this one. Either the connectors on the vehicles vary in length, or I got one that just happened to have too much potting epoxy in the connector. Had to return it, and I am trying a different brand.

My 1996 Chevy Blazer all of sudden wouldn’t shift out of first gear, had an ABS light on, and the speedometer didn’t work. Also was throwing codes C1236 and C1237. Thanks to a Blazer forum, I ordered and installed this replacement VSS and the problem is resolved. For any one looking to do the same you’ll need a 1” medium deep socket (there is not enough room for a regular deep socket) or 1” combination wrench to remove the old sensor. The only skid plate you need to drop is the rear most one covering the transfer case. The VSS is located on the driver side rear of the transfer case.

It got my 94 chevy k1500 shifting again. That’s right my 4l60 quit shifting and I did some research that said it could be the vss sensor. And sure enough I replaced it and it went to shifting right again. It works great

  6. Alex Knapp

Took 5 minutes to swap out and now my spedo works perfect! Great product for a more reasonable price.

  7. Joshua Davis

Didn’t work straight out the package it gave a loud annoying whine. when I removed it it was all ate up. The gear does hit it. Have to modify it. I read from a previous review this had to be done so keep the old one and shave it down with a dremel. Copy the same ware down from old part to new part of you want it function without the annoying banter.

Easy replacement works like a charm

  9. Amazon Customer

My 1993 k1500 would drop out of overdrive and get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear after driving for about 30 minutes. The speedometer would act crazy if I mashed the gas pedal. This was the problem. It was an easy fix! It was mounted in the top of the tail shaft of the transfer case. Works great now!

  10. mechcreech

This was a perfect fit for my 97 Tahoe 4×4 fixed my no shift problem. I would look at my sensor first as GM put a few different ones and updated to a different design as well
