I have a problem using those clip on phone holders because I live in a part of the country where car heat needs to be used several months of the year. That has been bad news for phones. I no longer have a CD player to use that type of mount, and hadn’t liked any dashboard ones because I don’t want to be distracted while driving. This cup holder mount is Goldilocks. Just right. It is high enough to easily see if following GPS or something, but not in my face. It’s high enough that my water bottle or coffee still fit in the cup holder. It’s sturdy enough to hold my phone, even in a case. It’s wireless charging, so I’m not fumbling for cables first thing in the morning. IT just works. I like it very much.

I needed something better than the suction cup phone charging mount. But I need both cupholders – one for coffee and the other for water (or the kids’ bottles). So was excited to try this out.
My water bottle is a standard 24 oz metal bottle. It’s skinny. It didn’t fit because the telescoping arm of the phone mount (which itself is unmovable) has this bulge in it that prevented my bottle from being placed in it. The tension C-bracket was secure, as was the charging arm and the charger itself worked fine. But this is supposed to be a 3 in 1, and it’s only a 2 in 1, and I’m giving it 2 stars.
Returning it and got another one with a telescoping arm that has 360 rotation so I can move it *out* of the way of cupholder!

I have been looking at these phone mounts for some time now and seems they all have varying features. I like this one because it has the option of a vent mount as well as a cupholder mount.
To insert this into a cup holder, it is merely resistant onto itself. Meaning that there are no knobs that allow you to adjust to your cupholder. The part that inserts into the cupholder has to be squeezed together by hand and then just stuck into the cupholder. I have seen others that have a knob that claims to be more secure, I have no way to compare.
There is an extension upwards that would accommodate room for a large mug/cup/small thermos, while still holding the phone without interference and the extension has a knob at the back that screws down so the extension stays in place. In the photo above, I have it extended to the max.
The product is made of thick plastic and appears to be durable enough.
The problem that I see for my use is that the opening to place the phone is rather limited. My phone is in a Coach phone case with a front cover, so it is wider and thicker than just a phone backing. When I placed my phone in the carrier, I was met with resistance even at the widest setting. I feel certain that if I were going on a long trip, I would likely remove my phone from its case in order to use this holder and it would fit without a struggle.
However, for short daily errands, there is no way that I am going to mess with removing my phone from its cover, which fits tightly and securely, only to insert the phone into this holder. I would find that to be too much trouble for short trips.
The ad states this has a charger, it came with the appropriate charging cord, but the ends are USB and unless you have a dedicated USB source in your vehicle, that is not going to be useful. I do not have that source so I will not be able to use or comment on that feature.
Overall, I think it’s a decent design but will be awkward to use for every day, as noted. For my use, this only meets a 4-star rating. It may be just what someone else needs or is looking for. It is exactly as described and shown in the photo. Recommend for long trips.

Took me a bit to realize how great this is. I made a few realizations.
First thing I learned – the quality of the charging provided is dependent ont he quality of the USB port that you plug this into. I saw lots of reviews talking about slow charging. I reread the listing and it says for fast charging you need a QC 3 car adapter for fast charging – it depends on the phone you have etc. QC 3 car adapters are readily available and pretty inexpensive. I got one and have super fast charging.
Secondly – the motor that grips and releases the phone runs off a battery – I did not see this mentioned in the listing. I realized that I had put the phone in and removed it BEFORE I had hooked it up to power. I had this in a vehicle that I don’t use often and it was outside in the cold for a couple of weeks. I went to use this and it wasn’t working. I thought it had broken. I disconnected, brought it inside and figured that it must run on a battery – charged it in the house and it worked just fine. So just be aware that based on how you use this – the battery could go dead and need a charge to get it working. For most normal use this would never be an issue. Just keep this in mind if it seems to not be working – the issue could likely be that it just needs a charge.
This thing holds the phone in a perfect position – much better than vent mounts etc. – the cup holder below it is still somewhat usable – you probably can’t put a super jumbo drink in it – but it can hold a can or bottle of soda or a reasonable size fast food/gas station cup. The motorized grip is great – place the phone and it grabs and holds it in place. One button release.
I was using this to do package delivery at one point. The app was readily visible when it was in the holder and then it was super easy to grab my phone – take a photo of the delivery and then put it back. Much easier than any other phone holder/charger I have seen.

Like the clean lines and very sturdy. Still holds a small plastic water bottle beneath it or a skinny small yeti coffee cup (but nothing else). It gets a little hot sometimes while charging and will stop charging the phone due to high temperature. Also doesn’t charge super fast but not bad. Best so far compared to others I’ve ordered (love the auto grip)
