I wasn’t sure at first if this is going to work, but I was frustrated with the OEM price for just one lift support! I bit the bullet and bought a set for half the price of OEM. I installed it which is pretty straight forward, I have my wife hold the trunk door for me so it won’t drop while I installed the new set. So far it’s been 3 weeks now and the lift is working like a charm. For the longest time I carried a locking pliers with me to clamp on the lift support rod to hold the door up while doing something in the trunk. No more of that crap! I’m happy as a clam and happy that I found this for half the price of the OEM. I’d say go buy ‘em if you’re looking for one. I used mine for my 2009 X-Terra.

My hatch hydraulics on my 2011 Nissan Xterra have been shot for several years. I finally purchased these and not only were they simple to install but they work like they did when I first got the vehicle!!! I should have purchased these years ago!!!

These lasted longer the the original parts (about 8 years) and they have MUCH more lift as well. I’m replacing them and getting these same ones because I was so happy with the last ones and the extra “power” they have to lift the back Xterra hatch. I’m confident they could also lift a door with a tire on it or some other after market added weight. I’m sure they could be fitted for other needs as well like heavy lids and cabinets etc. Nothing bad to say. Thanks!

I ordered this product and they said it would fit my vehicle. I took the old ones off for instructions and put the new ones on. They fit like a glove and this working perfectly. I’m so pleased with the product so far.

I bought a used XTerra and the back door just wouldn’t stay up unless I propped it open with a broom. I called the stealership, who quoted me something like 180 bucks for a new set installed. These were 30 on Amazon. They arrived quick and had pretty good instructions, and my daughter and I got them installed in a few minutes. Plus, they are STRONG. They are actually better than the original ones – I have had a few XTerras and have never had a set hold the door open this well. I live in an area where the temperature and humidity fluctuates all the time and these work no matter what the weather is. Highly recommended.

Ordered these in January. Install was a bit fiddly but not a big deal and the new struts worked great. Then after only five months (and very light use) one of the struts suddenly stuck fully extended and popped off the ball joint as I closed hatch. I removed the strut but could not get it to compress. Contacted seller through Amazon. Seller responded quickly, confirmed part number, and sent me a replacement within a few days. Very happy with support. I’ll install this weekend and if I have any problems I’ll update. 5th star is customer support.

Easiest install of any car part I’ve ever done excepting a replacement cigarette lighter on a 63 ‘vette! LOL
It was easy, especially if you are familiar with the install procedure via youtube or personal instruction before you even receive the package.
I’m a 46 year old woman and it took me a total of 30 minutes to install this set alone, and they work perfectly! In fact, the only issue I can see one having with this set is if they don’t understand the quick-release clamps and start taking apart the brackets or something. That would only be an issue of not reading the instructions and/or neglecting to look it up on youtube first. Seriously, it’s super easy! A narrow, flat-head screwdriver is the only tool required, unless you’re short (like me) you’ll possibly need a step stool. But really, you must only take the time to understand the installation procedure BEFORE you try to tackle the job to really get it right. Seems like it would go without saying, but apparently not everyone finds it obvious to READ THE MANUAL. It would be even easier with two people, because the hatch is very heavy and only one, weak lift shock won’t hold it. In order to install it, I used an 8′ two-by-four to hold it up while I replaced them.
I was pleased to note that once installed, it didn’t yank the hatch up so quickly that I had to step out of the way; like I’ve seen with other sets. This one rises at a good speed and you don’t have to leap out of the way like you do with other brands. That’s a very good thing to know, because even other, more expensive brands, seem to have reviews of issues with the hatch moving way too fast once the new lift shocks are installed. It holds firmly in the up position, and it closes easily.

I ordered these for my Nissan Xterra which has a VERY heavy hatch so I was obviously skeptical but figured for the price I’d I would give them a try. I installed them in a matter of minutes and they work perfectly! Surprisingly powerful, they fully extend my hatch quickly and effortlessly.
