The kit came neatly packaged with everything necessary. There’s a small cleaning brush, a buffing cloth, two application sponges, and the can of mink oil mixture. My main objective was to soften the leather on my steering wheel that felt like it was just starting to get a little dry, perhaps from the sun exposure in the windshield. I cleaned the whole steering wheel cover, then applied the mixture lightly, I waited another day and applied a second and third application. After the car was parked in the Sun for a few days the steering wheel still felt fairly fresh so I think that it did help. I have not tried it on any of the other parts of the car since my interior is vinyl and cloth. I can at least say that after having this on for 5 days there don’t seem to be any adverse effects and it did seem to help a little.

This kit came well packed. The sponges and velvet glove seem to be of pretty good quality. The mink oil conditioner appeared to be good until I looked at the ingredients. It does not list the ingredients in order of concentration. As they call this a mink oil conditioner, it is listed first but only forms 15% of the conditioner, as does Beeswax. The only thing in lower concentration is Lanolin. The main ingredient is ‘Maintenance oil’, which is usually something like Mineral oil and fat liquors which are again, similar petroleum derived products or other fats and oils. The latter two ingredients form 40+25% of the conditioner – a whopping 65%! Nothing wrong with these ingredients – they do not harm leather. The effects though, are different. And many people do not like using petroleum derived products on their leather.

I first learned about mink oil use in shoes when my late husband bought insanely expensive custom- made motorcycle boots. They gave him a big container of it and told him to apply it before he wore them, anytime they got wet and routinely every couple of months. Those boots took some hard use and still looked pretty much new after a couple of years. We put it on with our hands which beats any paraffin dip at the spa. Amazing for the shoes and amazing for the hands. This kit comes with various sponges, a small wooden brush, buffing cloth and a couple of what look like black Magic Erasers. I need to treat my winter boots before I put them away for the summer. I bought them around 1994 and they have been through snow, rain, mucking out stalls and pig pens, and I could still wear them out to dinner-maybe not to the Ritz, but certainly somewhere like Olive Garden. Mink oil also provides some water resistance, especially if you are careful to cover the seams. I usually apply the oil with my hands and work it in for a bit then let it sit overnight. I wipe off the excess and the leather is more supple and has a clean look. I have never tried to get a high sheen on any of the shoes I used it on so not sure if it can be buffed to be shiny. I probably would not use this on anything but leather. The idea is to nourish the natural leather which will not be effective on synthetics but it might give you some water resistance. It won’t harm anything for sure. Don’t use this on suede or nubuck- it will ruin the nap of the leather.

It’s a cool kit. I haven’t applied this to other color Leather so I can’t say if it darkens light colored leather be careful on that maybe it’s ok but I don’t know.I had a black pair of cowboy ankle boots and I like this product it’s conditions fine and you get applicator sponges and buffing hand pads and a nice brush and I think after doing the conditioning for the first time I think that that if you do this we’ll this product with the mink oil as and bees wax and the other ingredients that it will help your leather shoes or items stay nurished and in like new condition.. Again really like the results for my own pair of shoes that I felt I had abandoned. I didn’t know how to proceed so I followed the directions that are on the web page I applied it with the sponge left it to disk in for fifteen minutes very important leaving it on for a brief time I then buff them out with the furry pad glove and then I used a black polish (optional) f you want and they look fabulous! so this is what I did and I’m very happy with the results.
Great kit affordable useful I comes with all you need to keep your shoes or purses conditioned and I certainly recommend it hey leather is like your skin you have to nurish it to keep it from drying out so take care of it and it will take care of you.😁 Thanks Cheers

I figured we’d give this Mink Oil conditioner a try. The included tools were handy and easy enough to use. My wife cleaned up a pair of her leather boots after wearing them all winter. They had a fair amount of salt stains. The kit worked pretty well from start to finish. I wasn’t very happy with how much the Mink Oil darkened the leather on the boots. I also failed to take before and after pictures. If you use this product on some of your leather items, make sure you test a small out of sight patch to be sure you will be happy with the results.

This mink oil worked great for restoring my cracked Dr martens. It lacks clear directions though, it doesn’t really tell you what to do with the horsehair brush and they’re vague in general. I had to look it up on my own, but it seems all mink oil has the same technique/application method

The mink oil definitely helped restore my 13 year old leather sofa’s color and luster. The included buffing pad rips too easily but it’s easy to use a microfiber cloth instead.

I ordered the Mink Oil Leather Conditioner Cleaner Natural 3.5 oz through the VINE program. I used it on my leather work boots, which I have abused and become hard and dry. First, I cleaned them with a wet cloth, removing the loose dirt and grime. Once they dried, I used the kit’s application cloth and applied the Mink Oil to the leather. The boots absorbed the Mink Oil and regained their color and luster. Mink oil also softened the leather to make it more flexible and comfortable. They look great again.
