I typically use an oscillating polisher (Adams Swirl Killer or my Flex 3401 for paint correction. However, at times I reach for my Dewalt rotary for removing wet sand marks after using 3M Trizact. This is a very fine and effective backing plate.

This backing plate isn’t perfectly round centered or balanced. That means when you put your pad on it, it wobbles and makes the polisher fight you. On a rotary the backing plate and pad have to be centered for smooth operation. This is not the case and it makes the machine fight you.
Been polishing cars for 14 years and my shop does ALOT of paint polishing. I can’t use this, as the wobbling issue mentioned
I have many other backing plates that aren’t off center and work great.
