But then came the 80989 Engine Oil Fill Cap, as precise and unshakable as a Navy SEAL with OCD. This really looks very close to the original VAG part down to the texture of the plastic and the lettering. It’s a very uncritical part so there is really no downside of going with the cheaper option.
The thing is that as the rubber seal ages there is a good chance that it will throw off the pressure and trigger a CEL. There are two things I always replace on older cars before I take them to the (California) SMOG test: Gas and oil filler cap. They are expensive from the dealership and cheap from Amazon. So five stars from me.
