Identical perfect for! I used an old ginsu knife to carefully and cautiously cut through most of the old ring. Trying not to accidentally damage the original cap. Then used a hammer to tap the ring off and it easily popped off without too much force. I worked slowly and carefully to not damage the actual OEM cap that I was going to keep. Then I just snapped this replacement cap ring right on to the cap in just a couple seconds. So easy. Perfect fit. Like new again. And now I don’t have to worry about losing my gas cap.

Fit my 2017 V60 gas cap perfectly.

Slid off the old one that had a severed leash, slid on the new one using a bit of windex to make the slip on a bit easier. Worked like a champ and the wife is so happy.

Faster delivery than promised. Perfect fit can’t beat OEM parts. I recommend this dealer

Easy to put on after you remove the old tether. Snaps right on. You just have to cut the old one off, impossible to remove otherwise.
Dealership charges $190 to replace. DIY!!

I own a 2007 Volvo S40 T-5 Turbo and this does NOT work on my Volvo OEM gas cap…(It obviously works on other year Volvos based on the reviews though)
I received the part very quickly but when I attempted to swap out this very simple and easy gas cap strap, I found that it was very different from the OEM gas cap strap.
1) It has a hole where a nipple type piece of rubber fits into the flip out Gas door panel (See Pics)
2) The ring is 4mm too small, so it doesn’t rotate on the cap (I did use the trick that one reviewer suggested that was to put it in boiling water for awhile which did help get the ring onto the cap…but as I mentioned, it was way too tight so it doesn’t rotate when you tighten up the cap after filling with gas.
As I wasn’t going to bother sending it back, I thought I could make do.
So I went to my local auto part store and bought a plastic type rivet for $2.71 that is used to hold interior panels etc together. (See Pics)
Here is what I did, (see Pics)
I hope this helps with your purchase!
Cheers, Mark

The product is a little difficult to get installed on the gas cap, I was afraid I was going to break it before it slipped on. It’s tight enough that the cap won’t soon inside the strap, so one attached when you take the cap on/off the strap kind of wraps up around itself. Then the end that attached to the gas door is different then the factory part, so you will have to come up with a nut/bolt or another way to attach that end. In the end I was able to get my car repaired to where I don’t have to worry about losing the gas cap, but it’s not the most user friendly product.

Fits perfect on my 2009 Volvo S80 T6. Not that difficult to install. Pry the existing ring off with a small flat head screw driver. Pry off from the top side of fuel cap at the thinner end of the ring. To install the new tether ring, press down from both sides into the fuel cap groove from the larger end of ring toward the thinner end of the ring and the use a plier to press on smaller end of ring with minimum pressure to push the ring into the groove on the fuel cap. It took 5 minutes to replace.
