quality & comfort –
were easy to install and work well on our 2005 Lexus 430. The only thing, the trunk is harder to shut. Easier to open and stays open, but hard to shut, trying to bring it to that level just short of slamming it down. It’s suppose to shut itself when you get it to it’s base, but the trunk lid has always been heavy and these seem to hold it back even more. However, better that than it dropping on your head while you put groceries in car. That is the ONLY thing about our Lexus that I’ve never liked- is shutting the trunk. The lift supports probably are doing exactly what they are suppose to. I don’t remember it being that hard to shut back when our car was new though….

Only been in use for 5 days. Not an exact fit. OEM lifts are more heavy duty. OEM shafts are larger diameter.
One lift was too long and was extremely difficult to install. Helper was needed to force trunk open past the normal stop to get one lift to pop into place.
Once the lifts were installed, I noticed the lift mounting points (ball and socket) were loose but they have not popped off…..yet.
The lifts function as claimed. The trunk is easy to open and stays open.

I installed these lifts and they work well on my 2006 Lexus LS 430. The trunk lifts easier now and closes without slamming.
Installation hint. Mine had clips and removing the clips on the old one was easy once I could put the small screwdriver in the right place. You place the blade in the back of the ball end (nearest the inside of the trunk) and pry. Look at the new lifts to see where the screwdriver goes. Installation of the first one was easy – just popped on. The second lift seemed to be a 1/2 too long. I fought with it until I could push up on the trunk lid with enough force to get the extra 1/2 inch and the lift then popped on. If you have this problem I recommend getting a helper to push up on the lid so you can guide and pop the lift on.

Good value, seems reliable, has been working perfectly so far a few weeks after an easy swapout, fit perfectly.
Hopefully, they will be durable enough for the remaining life of the vehicle.

The item purchased was installed on 2003 Lexus LS 430. I used a mini screw driver to pry on the lock and made it easier with the removal/installation as I’m holding the trunk with one hand while the other hand is prying the lock. I believe it would be more efficient if somebody can hold the trunk from falling while working on removal/installation. Btw, this item matches the specs (compressed & uncompressed length) of the part it replaced and it works well when installed (plug-and-play item).
Overall, I’m satisfied with the purchase so far. In comparison, the OEM part is $59 each or $118 for the pair plus shipping vs. $25. Only time will tell how long this part last and will be more than happy if it last 3 years.

Struts were very easy to replace. No real special skills or tools needed. The cost of OEM struts are around $120 and these are a fraction of the price. Cannot say much for the longevity as I just installed them but they seem to be good quality so I gave that a 4 star and at least the trunk no longer falls on my head. I did have little bit of trouble installing one of the struts and as people said I had to really push on the trunk lid to get it to go in but once they were in it worked like new.

One strut was about 0.3 inches too long, making installation impossible.
Fortunately, the ball caps can be easily unscrewed from the strut, and are deeply threaded, allowing excess length to simply be ground away with a bench grinder.
Unfortunate lapse of quality control aside, these work well and are priced fairly.

These trunk lid support struts arrived very quickly and I was able to install them pretty easily. Like most projects, once I had figured out the tools (a small flat head screw driver, a small hammer, and needle-nose pliers), the first side required about 15 minutes to exchange, and the 2nd strut only took 5 minutes. Getting enough light on the work area was a key to success. The original struts lasted about 15 years. Hopefully these will last half that long. My mechanic wanted $400 to replace truck and hood struts – I was able to replace both sets in less than 1 hour (probably less total time than dropping off and picking up at his shop would have required) for less than $50. No skinned knuckles and they work fine. Watching the YouTube video really helped. Use a stout stick cut to correct length to support hood.
