Installed this over the weekend (there’s a YouTube video showing the process). OEM part just plugs into the spaces where it needs to go. Only issue was trying to get the blocking plug out of the vehicle’s socket in order to plug in the light; was an extremely tight fit and had to pull hard (was worried about breaking something). Anyway, works great. Comes with a stock halogen/incandescent bulb (which I’ll eventually replace with a brighter LED bulb; uses the hook-end style fastoon bulbs).

Perfect. Can’t believe my $47k truck didn’t come with one..So easy to install. All the factory wiring is there. Just route the wire under the hood insulation and plug in. 5min job.

I saw this at a very good price and although it wasn’t something I was looking to buy the price was too tempting to say no. I’m glad I got it, it fitted perfectly in my 2015 Ram 1500, all plug and play. And works great.

You will need a factory plastic push in fastener and on the 2017 ram my power port was already on so no trip to the dealer to re program

I had a kit of auto body fastener plug things (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0745D277N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s00), so I used on of the “trim and bumper” plugs (I think) to secure the actual light. Which strangely has the plug on the LIGHT pointed towards the FRONT of the truck. (2018 RAM Rebel 5.7l). The other issue being mine had the actual mounting plate BESIDE the lamp housing, like you see in the listing for the base DORMAN part here, not like in the pictures on this listing.
The lamp it comes with straight up is trash. And the housing is NOT lined with anything reflective, so ~60% of the light from this crap bulb is wasted.
I did NOT pull down the insulation clips. I just kinda worked it out of the big flange (~6″ long bent metal holder on the hood) to get the access I needed. The harness on this fit perfectly.
IF You have issues removing the dummy plug, once you slide the RED tab TOWARDS the middle of the truck, push down where the red tab was with a flat screw driver. The truck side is easy to remove. The lamp side wire is a bear.
And also, as most people on the RAMFORUM posts about this say, the ball “switch” is junk. 100% going to be looking for a mercury switch soon. But I think the wife is getting a little pissed at all the truck parts/time on the truck right now…

Easy install, perfect factory fit. I added an aftermarket super bright LED bulb in place of one that came with product. It occasionally blinks when on for a bit.

Works great, easy install but might be nice if instructions were included. While fairly self explanatory the factory plug with a dummy plug in it is a little tricky to figure out. There is a red clip that gets slide back and that exposes a tab that has to be pushed in to remove the dummy plug. Also the hood insulation clips get destroyed while removing, but 2 are included in the kit. Again, not a difficult install but would be good if instructions were included.
