I recently purchased this because my old fuel door had been broken and wouldn’t stay closed all the way. Taking the old one out for some reason was extremely difficult on mine and I pretty much had to break all of it apart for it to come loose. The new one however, went in very easy and with no issues at all. Works well but it makes a loud popping noise when I open and close it. It doesn’t seem to affect it in any way it just annoys me. That is the reason for only 4 stars. Other than that this product has been great so far!

Part arrived on time. Was easier to put in than taking the old one out, by slipping the hinge side in first. Then rotate the cup section into the body panel keeping aware of the alignment of the three bolt pattern on the fuel filler neck that you are going to mount it to. I was able to reach under the fender well to help guide the fuel filler neck somewhat into position. After aligned and bolted in place, place the body cover door on to the hinge arm pad section paying attention of the grooved side slots and just how the “U” shaped tab will flex up a bit to slide the cover into place. Total movement isn’t that far, maybe an inch or so. It may take a little effort to seat it into position as there are locking tabs. You will be familiar with these when you removed the body cover door from the old hinge arm pad by prying the “U” shaped tab slightly up to slide the cover off. The body colored cover is secure if the “U” shape tab on the hinge arm pad is totally flush.

When my fuel door would no longer close I went to YouTube to see what I should do. I found multiple videos showing how one can repair the spring in the mechanism rather than buy an “expensive” replacement. So I followed those steps (involved drilling and putting a screw in) and fixed it. But it was a total pain! A year later the door broke again, but this time I decided I would just see about a new part. Luckily I searched here on Amazon and found this.
Are you kidding me? A brand new housing for this price?! No brainer!! I swapped the old with the new in about 15 minutes. No issues with fit or function. The door is back to normal and I couldn’t be more pleased. I wish I had known about this the first time around.

This replacement flap assembly is more rugged then OEM. Fair to say that the original is 10+ years old, I feel like the replacement is still superior. Price is totally worth it in my opinion.

This replace may be slightly smaller than the factory product. It seemed to provide a little more clearance, making the installation easier. After installation it looks, fits and operates exactly like the factory part. This product has the bottom of the shaft “heat mushroomed” so the shaft will not raise out of position, the need for replacement of the FoMoCo part. No need to purchase the optional shaft.
