D. H. Liong –
The ball joints have more tolerance than the OEM version, making it a bit loose when in the full open position. Otherwise it works fine.
NikoInCalifornia –
Easy to install — perfect fit. Works fine. Price was right.
liliana navarro –
Too stiff and it didn’t fit well for my 2011 BMW IX
Adrienne O’Neill –
Perfect fit and easy replacement of old ones. Already bought replacement for hood
Lucas Drew –
Trunk will not pop open. You have to manually lift it a little over half way for it to spring into action. Weak.
Alexis de Leon –
These fit my 2006 BMW 325i trunk perfectly. Slowed the slamming trunk; they work great. Trying to buy an authentic BMW replacement part for this simple fix is NOT necessary. These BOXI shocks work just fine. Plus, the price is for two of them, one for each side of the trunk.
Adrienne O’Neill –
I purchased 2 of these for a 2008 BMW 328XI.
Installation was fine but one of the shocks broke after first use. The threads from both ends of the metal strut ripped out of the plastic cups that clip into the car.
Me –
I have a 2009 BMW 328i xdrive, and my trunk lid was slamming shut. It was becoming a safety issue when i would go for curbside pickups. The people, after putting my groceries in the trunk, would close it and then try to slow it down when they would see it going down fast. Then they would apologize for slamming it shut. I would tell them it wasn’t their fault, it slams shut on its own because of the worn out struts. I didn’t want someone getting their hand injured. So i ordered these new struts. I ordered them in the morning and they arrived around 6 in the afternoon. The delivery guy hands them to me, i opened the package took out both struts, opened my trunk, grabbed a small screwdriver, i placed it under the eyelit, its the little U shape holding the ball its its holder, and pulled it out. Its comes out real easy. Then i pulled on the strut and it popped out of the holder. Super easy. Then i grabbed the new strut and didnt know whether to remove the eyelit from the new strut in order to pop it in the ball holder, but i just turned it to align it with the holder and it popped into place. I changed both struts in less than 2 minutes. Then i tried to shut it and it would not go down. I thought maybe it had a safety lock and i didnt see anything. I thought ok, i think these are defective. But then i pushed down on the trunk a little harder and bingo, it wasnt defective, i was use to barely pushing down on the trunk all those years, and didnt realize that these struts were doing their job. For the first time in forever, i saw my trunk go down slow and a few inches from the bottom it lets go and closes it tight. No more slamming down!! Then i opened it and again i always had to open it all the way before i let go of it, or else it would slam down, half way up it left my hand and opened up the rest of the way nice and slow. If you are looking for struts that fit perfect and work great, these are the struts you should get.
