A nice switch. I installed it on my yard truck that never goes out on the road and does plenty of sitting during the year especially the summer. This should save the battery. Seems to be made well. I coated the whole thing with dielectric grease to prevent any corrosion. Was a breeze to install. Plenty of hood clearance with this model as it opens horizontally. Installed on a 1972 Ford F-250 4×4.

awesome

Seems decent enough. Works as intended. My only concern is the base is made of plastic and flexes when more than expected when moving the lever up and down. Only time will tell.

In our 5er RV we have two group 31 deep cycle batteries with 5/16” studs connected in parallel to the 12V system for extra capacity. They do have the normal top posts as well, but the connections are ring terminals for a 5/16ths stud. It’s impossible to find a proper disconnect switch like this that just goes on the stud, but this was the next best thing because it has a 5/16 inch stud on the expansion side. I can simply screw down the wire with the ring terminal to it without having to redo it for 3/8”!
Where it’s stored for months at a time, I like to keep it on an extension cord to keep the batteries healthy, but power is unreliable since someone keeps unplugging it. So to make it a non-issue I just wanted an easy way to disconnect the batteries altogether to eliminate even minimal drain. This is just what the doctor ordered.
It was super quick and easy to install, and it’s certainly quite stiff and solid to operate. If the hinge rivets ever one day have a problem, which I doubt, it will be quick and easy to nip them off and replace them with a short machine screw and nut.
Grab a couple of 1/2” or 13mm wrenches, and that’s all you need to cinch it down on the top post. Wing but let’s you secure the ring terminals from the RV in place.

Good idea, poor execution. I was happy to find mine did fit the battery terminal with relative ease and minimal coaxing, apparently other reviews had problems with that. My first issue I had is the post portion that the existing battery cable should fit over is poorly made, it was too big on one side and not round meaning I had to spend considerable time with a file working it down and fixing the shape. Then I noticed the part where the spade/blade attach to the clamp and post was a poor fit and one was not clean, this will lead to high resistance, heat, and more issues down the road. After filing them smooth flat finish it has much better fit and more surface area to pass the current meaning lower resistance and better service. I would also have preferred to see a nut and lock washer holding the pieces together, that’s another mod I will have to look at for the future.
For raw materials this was reasonable enough, it looks to be cast clamp/post just poor finishing on it.

this particular knife switch seems to be built better than others available on amazon, the only part im a bit skeptical about is the plastic “bridge” between the two terminals, I bought this to put on the negative side of a ram with a 24v Cummins, however the ground cables (and positive for that matter) are a heavy gauge wire that is rather heavy and upon install noticed that the weight was flexing that plastic bridge so i uninstalled it, I am fairly certain it would have broken in two given some time, but i am keeping it as i work on a lot of vehicles and various machines and i have no doubt it would work fine on a vehicle with thinner cables like a gasoline engine or and other application with smaller gauge cables that are less heavy. the knife lever fit tightly into it’s holder, and the rest of the item minus the plastic bridge seem to be built well, so i recommend this product just not on a diesel engine that has heavy gauge cable which use far more cranking amps than your average gas engine or RV / marine application.
